Educational Programs Offer

Educational programs for students

Respect and Tolerance educational program consists of two parts:

Jewish traditions and symbols
Basic symbols, traditions, holidays and customs. Program participants will also be informed about the mutual coexistence and influence of the Jewish and Christian cultures during past centuries.

History
Basic information dealing with the Jewish history: genesis of the first Jewish state about one thousand years BCA, anti Roman rebellion, Diaspora (driving the Jews out of their country), entry of the Jews to Europe, coexistence of the Jewish and Christian communities in Bohemia and Moravia from the 11th to 20th centuries. In this chapter a special part is dedicated to the Holocaust, and to the contemporary and historical anti-Semitism. In the last part of the program students will be informed about the regional Jewish history and about life stories of real members of the local prewar Jewish community (Wolf Family - Otto Wolf´s Diary 1942 - 1945, Edgar Ziegler, Arthur Langer, etc.).

An important part of the educational program is a film document created together with Mrs. Edith Carter Knöpflmacher. She was born in 1914 and she spent her girlhood days in Mohelnice, Loštice and Olomouc. She was imprisoned in concentration camps in Terezín and Auschwitz and she succeeded to escape from "the march of death". She was the only one of her family to survive the Holocaust. She came back to Olomouc in May 1945. After another bad experience in 1948, this time with communists, Edith decided to emigrate to the USA. Her narration is the history of the 20th century transformed into one human life story.

Interactive educational programs
Basic for us is the motto of "the Teacher of Nations" J. A. Komensky˝: "There is nothing in our intellect, which didn´t enter through our senses." That´s why we are preparing interactive "made to measure" programs for the schools. Students cooperate very actively and therefore are able to remember most of the gained knowledge. We are preparing these programs for elementary and high schools and also for colleges. In order to maintain Komensky´s ideas of "the golden rule of illustrative nature" we conduct our programs at schools with a help of DVD presentations. We organize our programs at schools and also in libraries, museums or in Lostice and Usov synagogues.

Our educational programs comply with RVP code, meet highest educational standards and conform to multi subjects methods of teaching. For more information or registration please contact us on phone numbers: +420 775 264 206, +420 607 867 372

 Educational programs for teachers

Our main program is education of teachers. Our seminars are based on the accreditation of Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic.

Main topics of the Respect and Tolerance educational programs:

History
Basic information dealing with the Jewish history: genesis of the first Jewish state around
1000 BCA, anti Roman rebellion, Diaspora, entry of the Jews to Europe, coexistence of the Jewish and Christian communities in Bohemia and Moravia from the 11th to 20th centuries. Mutual influences in the area culture, traditions, religion, language, customs, literature etc.

Holocaust
The Holocaust is used also as an example how a tragedy can start with just words; evil words, slander, lies, humiliation, and preaching of simple solutions for the problems in the world.
Indifference to these "innocent and harmless" occurrences lead to a formation of a big tragedy for the mankind, millions of men, women and children€œ with no regards to their nationality or religion.

The present days
It is necessary to accent the reality that the Nazi ideas and the Holocaust do not (unfortunately) belong to the history. Nazi ideas and the Holocaust didn´t disappear 65 years ago, they are surfacing in different forms even at the present days. Basic knowledge in this area is very important to understand the present events in our country and around the world. Racism, hatred and intolerance still keep returning to our world thanks to propagators of various versions of extremism and fundamentalism.
